Dear Dorothy, I spend my days and nights dreaming about this one girl I met at the Fair. We walked together in the parade, and met back at Lou’s afterwards, but I don’t have the courage to talk to her outside the Fair. She works at Ruth’s and passes my workplace every single day on her way to work, and my torture is exquisite, seeing her wander along Main Street, her hair wipping and her petticoat flipping to the beat of my aching heart. She is a dream in pastel colors, painted by an old master with a young heart–so innocent, so….dream-like. Like the sunset on a mild October night.

Dorothy, I am in love! But how do I let her know?

Mark Hall was like every other graduating student when he attended the Hill Valley Fair – a young man, just graduating and totally unsure of what he would do for the rest of his life. Yet, the Hill Valley Fair changed all that. Mr. Hall was spotted aiding traffic and keeping pedestrians safe whilst at the fair and luckily for him the local crossing guard noted his good work and knew of a vacancy.

A few minutes later, Mark Hall was offered the job as a crossing guard, which he quickly accepted. Now Mark Hall can be seen stopping traffic to help students cross the roads, by Hill Valley High School.

We can’t believe it is over so soon but Hill Valley breathed a sigh of sadness today as the town returned to its usual self. The Fair has been and gone, as have the thousands of visitors who arrived from across the state but wow, what a marvelLous Fair it was.

It is difficult to pinpoint what made this year’s Fair the greatest that has ever been. Perhaps it was the parade, hundreds of Hill Valley students and professionals marched proudly through the town. Or maybe it was the incredible animal stock displayed by Peabody farm, those sheep and chickens really did make the kids hoot with laughter. The rides were certainly popular, as those whose legs were tired could take to the sky on the ferris wheel or flying chairs. Or perhaps the contagious spirit of all the shop keepers as they showed off their wares and produce. The dancing was certainly a hit, as those who went for a drink soon found themselves jiving away to the newest tunes but what really made the Fair? We decided to ask the Mayor.

In an interview with the Hill Valley Telegraph, our Mayor disclosed what he believed was the Fair’s highlights. “There is no doubt about it, this year’s Hill Valley Fair was the greatest ever. The Hill Valley Fair has always been a spectacular event but what really made it special this year was that everyone was involved. Whether you were a local or from a completely different place, you embraced Hill Valley, everyone was part of our special town. I also thought the food was particularly good this year, Lou’s Café improves with every bite I take.”

We at the HVT are looking forward to the Hill Valley Fair 1956, only a year to wait!

What made your Fair special? Write in and tell us about your experiences.

It’s been a few weeks of curious weather here in Hill Valley and despite the recent sun spells which have brightened up everyone’s day, businesses are still taking last minutes precautions to waterproof everything in time for the fair. Local residents have been advised to dress accordingly for the festivities, which judging by this weather might mean anything from a sun hat to a rain mac! We’d recommend both. There are benefits to this peculiar behaviour though, first and foremost the likelihood of creating a most magnificent rainbow just in time for the fair. And that’s not all, despite a few soggy burgers at Lou’s, local farmers are thrilled at the recent wet weather after a prolonged dry spell threatened to ruin crops. Otis Peabody has stated that “a bit of rain never hurt no one. And my carrots are happy as Larry.” But Hill Valley High student Loretta Morrison, 18, was less than pleased. As she entered the Elite Beauty Salon we heard her mutter “I’m going to have to go to the Enchantment-Under-the-Sea dance as a mermaid unless these clouds scoot off!” Scientist Dr. Emmett Brown could not explain the dramatic change in weather either. He added: “Strange things are afoot in Hill Valley. In fact…” Unfortunately this reporter cannot bring you the rest of the professor’s comments as he suddenly hurried off. Mayor Red Thomas has advised residents to wrap up warm and not to worry.

Dear Dorothy

I have been happily married for many years now and my husband has always been a very earthbound and reasonable man. But lately he has gone mad with the idea of flying saucers. I know it sounds silly but it is all he talks about and things are getting out of hand. I understand it is only right and proper to show a keen interest in your husband’s hobbies, but frankly his behavior at social gatherings has become unbearable, as all he does is rant and rave about “humanoids”. I overheard Mary Robbins call him a closet case the other day and I just know the neighbors are peeking through their curtains every time he takes his bed things to the garden to “watch for the lights”. I had the bad sense to question him the other evening over dinner. He said that these objects look like big silver horizontal spindles so I asked if he might be getting confused with our new boiler and he just stormed upstairs. I don’t want to be rash or upset him as I know he works very hard and is probably very stressed at work but I could really do with some advice. Housekeeping Weekly has been absolutely useless in regards to dealing with such matters.

Dear Mrs. “Boddy”,
Before you call the men in white coats to come and take your husband away, it is important you realize that a significant number of thoughtful, intelligent, educated people in full possession of their faculties claim to see similar things almost every day. In August of this year, the Sutton family farmhouse “UFO” sighting in Hopkinsville, Kentucky stirred the wildest imaginations of minds across the country. America has become most excited about these sightings and it can be difficult not to find yourself caught up in the buzz. However, these extraordinary sightings do seem out of character for your seemingly grounded husband. Has he been reading any popular science fiction magazines recently? Exposure to fantastical stories of “robots” and “time travel” could be sending his perceptions of reality askew – particularly if he is very stressed at work or not sleeping well. Are you sure to arrange his pillows properly at night? It is important to look at what you may be doing wrong at home before assuming it is your husband who is to blame. Being supportive and not complaining or nagging over his decision to sleep in the garden will help. Be aware you’re not making him feel embarrassed about his interests. These are all important components to being a good, caring wife and if you keep them up, I feel confident you will see a change in him soon.

Prom is an important part of our high school life and it is also educational. For many young men it is the first time they ask a girl on a date. This can be a very overwhelming concept and instead of biting the bullet and asking the girl they have fancied throughout the whole of high school to the dance, the young man in question either avoids prom altogether or has to watch an awful jock dance the night away with his lady.

We at the Hill Valley Telegraph decided it was important to give a helping hand. So here it is:
1.  Try and make sure the girl of your dreams is alone when you ask her to prom. Maybe wait till she is by her locker in between class (this also means you can make a quick escape if it goes wrong).
2.  Stride up to her, it is okay to seem a little nervous but girls are attracted to confidence so make sure your walk oozes self-belief.
3.  Smile.
4.  Don’t beat around the bush. Instead of saying ‘do you want to dance for a bit at the prom’ say ‘would you like to go to prom with me?’
5.  The ideal conversation should go: ‘Hey, how are you? I was just wondering if you wanted to go to prom with me?’ ideally she will then reply: “sure, I would love to’.
6.  Good luck and remember even if she says no you won’t have lost anything. Keep your head high and smile.

Twenty years ago Michael Fromaz and Laura Croe were preparing for their high school prom. They were eighteen, had been together for four years and they had their whole lives ahead of them. However, unlike every other student they were not looking forward to the prom, as prom was to be the last day of their relationship.

Michael Fromaz was moving with his family to Australia the day after prom and Laura had secured a job as an assistant at Ruth’s Frock Shop. So as they danced their last dance, tears streaked the couple’s cheeks… They thought they would never dance together again. The couple kept in contact for a year but eventually it ceased. Three years later Michael went looking for the girl who had stolen his heart but was unable to find her. Laura’s family had moved out of Hill Valley and she was no longer working at Ruth’s Frock Shop. Eventually Michael gave up on his search and started a new life.

Meanwhile Laura was living in Los Angeles with her new husband, Derek and was two months pregnant. Laura went on to have three children with Derek and was happily married until a year ago Derek had a terrible accident and died. In a bid to re-root herself, Laura moved with her children back to Hill Valley and when she was asked to help with the fair she agreed.

Michael was still in Australia when he received a letter from an old classmate suggesting he returned to Hill Valley for the Hill Valley Fair and he booked his return that afternoon. Laura was in the middle of decorating the High School Hall when she felt a tap on her shoulder. “I was really annoyed actually,” Laura told the Hill Valley Telegraph. “I had nearly managed to reach the hook on the wall when I felt a tap on my shoulder and nearly fell but then I saw who it was and I just…” Laura’s eyes watered as she relayed her emotions. “I just, I’d been thinking about him for the last twenty years. I never forgot him.”

“When I saw her there, I just couldn’t help myself. I wanted to just grab her and kiss her and never let her go,” Michael said. “So much time had passed but she was still my Laura.” The high school sweethearts are very looking forward to dancing together once again at prom and are planning on getting married in a months time.

“Once I saw her I knew. I knew I should never have left her. I realised she was the girl I had always wanted, always needed and the one I couldn’t live without.”

Elite Salon was in a state of excitement this morning when it was revealed that a celebrity was spotted in Hill Valley. An anonymous lady who happens to be a regular client of Elite Salon was overheard gossiping about a celebrity who was in Hill Valley.

The star was seen near The Bank of America and looked as though they had been shopping. The source said that the star held bags from Ruth’s Frock Shop and Roy’s Records. It is believed that the celebrity in question is in town for the fair.
