Twenty years ago Michael Fromaz and Laura Croe were preparing for their high school prom. They were eighteen, had been together for four years and they had their whole lives ahead of them. However, unlike every other student they were not looking forward to the prom, as prom was to be the last day of their relationship.

Michael Fromaz was moving with his family to Australia the day after prom and Laura had secured a job as an assistant at Ruth’s Frock Shop. So as they danced their last dance, tears streaked the couple’s cheeks… They thought they would never dance together again. The couple kept in contact for a year but eventually it ceased. Three years later Michael went looking for the girl who had stolen his heart but was unable to find her. Laura’s family had moved out of Hill Valley and she was no longer working at Ruth’s Frock Shop. Eventually Michael gave up on his search and started a new life.

Meanwhile Laura was living in Los Angeles with her new husband, Derek and was two months pregnant. Laura went on to have three children with Derek and was happily married until a year ago Derek had a terrible accident and died. In a bid to re-root herself, Laura moved with her children back to Hill Valley and when she was asked to help with the fair she agreed.

Michael was still in Australia when he received a letter from an old classmate suggesting he returned to Hill Valley for the Hill Valley Fair and he booked his return that afternoon. Laura was in the middle of decorating the High School Hall when she felt a tap on her shoulder. “I was really annoyed actually,” Laura told the Hill Valley Telegraph. “I had nearly managed to reach the hook on the wall when I felt a tap on my shoulder and nearly fell but then I saw who it was and I just…” Laura’s eyes watered as she relayed her emotions. “I just, I’d been thinking about him for the last twenty years. I never forgot him.”

“When I saw her there, I just couldn’t help myself. I wanted to just grab her and kiss her and never let her go,” Michael said. “So much time had passed but she was still my Laura.” The high school sweethearts are very looking forward to dancing together once again at prom and are planning on getting married in a months time.

“Once I saw her I knew. I knew I should never have left her. I realised she was the girl I had always wanted, always needed and the one I couldn’t live without.”

Another happy story from Hill Valley. Have you got any prom stories you would like to share? If so contact the Hill Valley Telegraph.

Elite Salon was in a state of excitement this morning when it was revealed that a celebrity was spotted in Hill Valley. An anonymous lady who happens to be a regular client of Elite Salon was overheard gossiping about a celebrity who was in Hill Valley.

The star was seen near The Bank of America and looked as though they had been shopping. The source said that the star held bags from Ruth’s Frock Shop and Roy’s Records. It is believed that the celebrity in question is in town for the fair.

Have you seen a well-known figure walking around Hill Valley? Write into the Hill Valley Telegraph and let us know.

Dot Hempel made the Hill Valley Telegraph Headlines a couple of months ago when she saved a nest of ducklings from a predator. An aggressive fox had already gobbled the young ducklings’ mother and was preparing to wolf down the four remaning chicks. Dot Hempel leapt to the rescue, broom in hand, scaring off the fox and saving the orphaned ducklings.

For the last two months Dot has been looking after her brood. Feeding them, keeping them warm and teaching them how to swim and fend for themselves. This morning was a bittersweet occasion as she released the ducklings she had grown to love back into the wild.

“I always knew it was going to be difficult,” Dot told the HVT wildlife reporter. “When you spend so much time with these animals, you grow to love them. I will particularly miss Hoppit (Mrs. Hempel named each duckling). Every morning when I came to the barn Hoppit was waiting for me, chatting away. It was the right thing to do though, to release them. They’ll have a beautiful life and they will be free. They are now able to fly, so let’s hope that if Mr. Fox strikes again they will simply take to the air.”

Well Done Dot Hempel.

Hill Valley is notorious for beautiful and large vegetables, the enthusiastic farmers of our town made sure of that generations ago. Unsurprisingly then, to claim to have grown the largest radish ever nurtured by Hill Valley soil is rather more significant than out-of-towners might realise.

Sally Fruckstow contacted our offices yesterday morning to announce: “I’ve just grown the largest radish I’ve ever seen.” Fruckstow is a seasoned farmer with a penchant for radish growing (three time winner of the Rosiest Radish Awards at the Hill Valley Fair). However, the Hill Valley Telegraph needed proof, so an HVT reporter was sent to the scene. To say this radish is huge is an understatement. Radishes are usually a little addition to a salad; this radish would fill the whole salad bowl. What’s more, it’s still growing!

With a little luck the Fruckstow Radish will be ready for picking in time to compete in the Hill Valley Fair. Further more, due to this radish’s extraordinary size it could well be heading into the Hill Valley’s Greatest Achievements Book. In order to enter the HVGAB the Hill Valley Farmer’s Board is heading to Fruckstow Farm tomorrow, to confirm whether this is in fact the largest radish ever grown in Hill Valley.

Good Luck Fruckstow Farm!

In advance of the upcoming Hill Valley fair, Texaco’s very own singing six part harmony group The Texatones have been practicing their vocal parts and polishing their dance moves, reports Nikki Cruse.

“We’re all very excited for the upcoming fair,” said Texaco owner and Hill Valley resident Mr Anderson. “Our Texaco boys are sure to do us proud and show this beautiful town that our service really is the very best – our men will be wearing the Texaco stars with pride!”

Alongside long serving Texaco employee Brad there are new additions to the line up in Edmund Turner, David Munoz, Patrick Williams and John Shaw. The ‘Tones are preparing to wow the crowds before the Hill Valley Parade with smooth vocal stylings and sharp uniforms – you might want to watch your ladies, fellas.

So join the ranks of those who know, and fill your tanks with Texaco!

The Hill Valley parade might seem like the most exciting thing to hit the states this year, but 1955 has seen its fair share of amazing events already. Walt Disney’s “Disneyland” opened its doors on July 17 in Anaheim, California to a special list of invited guests and the media. 28,000 people attended the event. The park resort consists of a theme park featuring twenty attractions, a 100-acre (40 ha) parking lot, and the Disneyland Hotel. During the first public opening day (July 18) 50,000 guests attended. We wonder what Mayor Thomas would make of that!

The park itself is made up of themed areas including Main Street, Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland and among the attractions are Mark Twain Steamboat and Peter Pan’s Flight. In Tomorrowland, which sounds by far the most exciting area, you can ride through Autopia and even Rocket to the Moon (what a fantastic thought!).

Here at the Telegraph we wish him all the best with such an extravagant venture, though we’re confident it won’t be half as exciting as our very own Hill Valley fair. Pop into the office on the day and let us know what you think.

Well this makes a change. Of all the Hill Valley residents to spark a good gossip during a cut, curl and set, Dr E. Brown must be the most unlikely. But over at Elite Salons word is you can barely move for news about our resident mad scientist. Rumour has it the Doc has a visitor – either that or he’s finally cracked the dog to human voice translator. We’ve heard the town newbie’s something to look at, too. Here’s hoping the Doc won’t keep him locked up during the fair and parade, there’s nothing like a dark, handsome stranger to get us in the mood for a party.

Don’t forget to send in any tips on the Doc, and pop into Elite any time for a gossip and a groom.

Hello readers, Dorothy here, and this week I have a problem of my own. I can’t be the only woman in Hill Valley kept awake by my husband’s deafening snore. Well I know I’m not – I’ve had complaints from next door.

There is nothing that makes one as irritable as lack of sleep and when I’m exhausted and the nasal foghorn starts sounding I have half a mind to strangle the poor man in his sleep. Luckily help is at hand, after a bit of digging around at the town centre I’ve discovered that local inventor Dr. E Brown claims to have alighted on a solution.

“The product is created by mixing sea salt water, cement, paper and a secret ingredient,” Dr. Brown told The Hill Valley Telegraph. “The device can be attached to the nose and will totally alleviate the sound associated with snoring. Unfortunately the product is still in the prototype stage but is progressing with impressive speed.”

You better hurry up Doc because if you don’t provide me with an antidote sooner rather than later I might have to whip up my own batch. Either that or move house.

Do you know somebody who might benefit from Dr. Brown’s snoring cure?

Until next time,

Dorothy

At this month’s regular meeting of the Hill Valley Women’s Temperance Group, guest speaker scientist Doctor E. Brown predicted futuristic telephones with no wires to connect them to the exchange. Discussing the new Hill Valley Telephone Exchange project launched by the Mayor last week, Brown enthused about the usefulness of communicative devices, highlighting a possibility of them becoming transportable.

The Doc explained to an enthralled audience how these telephones would be entirely cordless, meaning people could keep them in their automobiles or even carry them to work. However, he did warn that they would have to be the size of house bricks or bigger in order to accommodate a battery large enough to keep them powered.

During the question and comment time, one member of the audience asked: “why would anybody in their right mind want to carry a telephone around with them? Surely Hill Valley already has enough telephone booths to go round?” Given the new push to get residents talking (you can now call and leave a message for anyone in the directory) many of the locals present agreed. Perhaps the Doc’s more interested in the possibilities of science than the usefulness of what he’s inventing. At the Telegraph we don’t see why you’d ever need a wireless telephone to go about your business in the town or enjoy yourself at the fair and parade. Either way, it made for a fascinating afternoon.

After opening its doors to the public, Courthouse Square and the surrounding area has seen a flurry of activity and pop-up events, with shops and restaurants welcoming any and everyone keen to experience the good old-fashioned hospitality Hill Valley has to offer. Since the Mayor’s expansion plans kicked in which saw the launch of the Hill Valley Telephone Exchange programme, TV and radio channels and Peabody’s Twin Pines farmyard party, we’ve received mail from hundreds of happy Americans all keen to share their experiences.

We can’t wait for the next few weeks, as we welcome even more of the community into our offices and living rooms all in the name of having a good time. Pop in to see The Telegraph when you’re next in town, and let us know what you think.
